“BROADER: Boosting cross-border interRelations to Overcome Animosity and DEvelop human Rights education.” is a capacity building project, submitted to EACEA in September 2016 by InCo organization together with a network of partners.
The idea of this project is developing new partnerships between European and Latin American youth organizations. The project itself started in January 2017, and will finish in October 2018; it includes a number of activities, both long-distance and mobility of youth workers as well as volunteers.

What are the main activities in the project?
A. Youth workers exchange in Trento (Italy) in April 2017.
Youth workers will be involved before the beginning of the training, as they will have to prepare a presentation of their country and the methodology they use to facilitate youth participation and intercultural dialogue. The main objectives of the YWE are to strengthen links between partners, share best practices about the promotion of the role of youth as promoters of inter-cultural dialogue and about cross-borders cooperation in the field of youth. Other objectives are the visit to the organizations dealing with migrants and refugees and disseminate the project among the institutions of the territory thanks to visit the main offices of the Region.
B. Youth Exchange in Innsbruck (Austria) in July 2017.
The main objective is to create a network of youth coming different backgrounds who will stay in touch thank to this ICT platform and the presence of EVS volunteers during 9 to 12 months in order to foster the role of youth as promoter of intercultural and mutual understanding. The specific objectives are: facilitate the understanding of migratory phenomena; raise awareness among young people and the local community of the risks of closing borders and building walls; encourage the participants’ personal growth through intercultural non-formal educational experience, to better appreciate the differences.
C. European Voluntary Service.
The working methodology used is to put the volunteer at the center of its service, enhance the sense of initiative, making them the protagonist of their own learning. Volunteers will gain every day, during their service and their personal experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities according to the principle of learning by doing. Volunteers will be encouraged to keep contact between each others to share their experience, develop a video regarding their EVS experience and develop activities together with their RO to promote active citizenship and a culture of openness towards migrant.
D. Youth Workers Exchange: Study Visit in Mexico, March 2018
The study visit will be organized by the partner in Mexico and will include out-door visits and activities as well as non-formal learning activities aiming to reflect on the results of the project and partnerships for future cooperation. The objectives are: have a better awareness of the issue at the border between Mexico and the US, specifically the hard journey migrants do to reach the US; visit organizations supporting migrants in their journey; disseminate the existence of the project, particularly to the local representatives of public authorities.
E. Final Meeting in Slovakia in September 2018
The purpose of the meeting is to evaluate the results and methodologies of the project to plan further collaboration and activities to disseminate the results. The meeting will be divided in discussion sessions between partners and then in plenary session. A conference will be organized to share the results with other youth organizations, political authorities, youth, and EVS volunteers will share their experience.
F. Network Meeting of the Board via Skype, Dissemination Activities and ICT Platform
The aim of meeting is to monitor the activities of the project and share doubts and solutions. The ICT platform is an interactive space where partners will be able to publish information about their organizations, their country, the activities and the results of the project with pictures and videos and where volunteers will have a blog to share their experiences.
